  5. Myristoyl-CoA:protein N-myristoyltransferase  (EC 2.3.1.97)  (Nmt) [1]  is the
  6. enzyme responsible  for  the  transfer  of a myristate group on the N-terminal
  7. glycine of a number of cellular eukaryotics and viral proteins.
  8.  
  9. Nmt is  a  monomeric protein of about 50 to 60 Kd whose sequence appears to be
  10. well conserved.  We  have  used  two  highly  conserved  regions  as signature
  11. patterns. The  first  one is located in the central section, the second in the
  12. C-terminal part.
